Hey everyone! I have read all the posts from everyone else so far and I am so excited about meeting everyone in person! Well a little about myself. My name is Justin Williams, but because of the fact that that is such a common name, I am called any assortment of variations of that name. So whatever you like best works for me. I just turned 18 the Friday before last. I am a senior in the small town of Wimberley, Texas which is about 45 minutes south of Austin. I love going to concerts and hanging with friends at the river. I have played many sports, but don't currently play any. However, I still love going out and playing the sports with my friends. This year I started acting in the theater at my high school where we recently finished Shakespear's A Mid-Summer Night's Dream, and now we are working on a One-Act competition version of Hamlet. I love doing stuff on the computer and other geek things. Right now I am learning how to program Java. I also love to take pictures, in aspirations of becoming a Photo-journalist. I actually just purchased a Canon rebel-x 50D and i LOVE it. I don't really watch much TV besides sports and the History channel, but I have friends who watch the office so I may be able to follow along a little when y'all talk about it haha. I love listening to music and listen to just about every kind of music. Next year I plan on going to University of North Texas and majoring in Mass Communications with a minor in Business. That's about all I can think of to say right now. I am stoked about getting to know all of you and I believe that the Lord is going to do great things through us!
Oh! And I don't know how many of you have facebooks but here is my URL
Well, I finally figured out how to post a blog! :)
My name is Marla and I go to Virginia Tech... Elizabeth Hughes and I are roommates actually. (she made me write that) Alright, I am an Interdisciplinary Studies major... which is basically a major made up of 3 minors: Music, Sociology and History. At school, I am involved in Campus Crusade for Christ, Relay For Life, I work at the Career Services Building as a peer advisor, and I work at the coffee/icecream shop. I am really blessed with amazing friends and family and love to hang out with them (at VT and home in northern Virginia). I have a brother, a sister, a brother-in-law, a nephew, and a niece on the way! :) My favorite thing to do is create; I like painting, playing guitar, drawing, dancing, singing, re-making videos (check out Elizabeth and my youtube vids at "coolmarlarules")... Oh and I am part of a German Dance group named Alt Washingtonia. My parents joined the group before I was born, so it's another family I've grown up in. I guess that's me in a nutshell. This will be my first mission trip and I am so excited to see how God will use us all this summer to glorify Him. I cannot wait to meet our group! God bless.
Hey, my name is Haley Dillman. Right now I'm 17, but I will be 18 in March. I live in Roswell, Georgia and go to Roswell High School. Haha it's lookin like I'm gonna be the baby of the trip. Let's see....I'm going to Georgia College and State University next year, and I plan to major in either nursing or early childhood education. I have an older brother who is a sophomore at Georgia Tech, and we've definitely gotten closer since he left for college. I'm really involved in FCA at my school, and my youth group at Northbrook UMC. I've been on several in-country mission trips to places like Mississippi and Nashville, but the first time I went on an international mission trip was to Ghana, West Africa two summers ago. Long story short: I loved it. Most of the people I know could tell you that I love Africa...including African babies haha. Okay...I work at Zaxby's (fastfood chicken restaurant). If you haven't heard of it it's the bomb. I've gone through a lot of tough growth over the past couple of years, and I'm so excited to be molded even more. It is so comforting to read your bios and see the eagerness you have for this trip. It is so hard to wait when I am already amazed at how God is preparing me for this...I can't imagine what He has in store. The ways that He has started to shake off the things that don't matter and just hold me and tell me that I'm loved is incredible. I'm am so incredibly excited to meet all of you! I'm gonna attempt to upload a picture or two, but I'm not sure how that's gonna work out:] Oh yeah, and find me on facebook!
Hello everyone! My name is Lynsey! I'm 19 (but I'll be 20 over the summer!) and I attend Temple University in Philadelphia. It's only my first year there because I transferred from the University of Pittsburgh. I grew up in Reading, PA, which is close to Philly. My major is political science and I have a really strong interest in international studies. I've never been on a mission and I'm actually a relatively new Christian. I accepted Christ as my Savior in the summer of 2008 and I can't believe the impact God has made in my life so far. I can't wait to go to Kenya, especially because I took two semesters of Swahili at Pitt... so maybe I can help out with the language. I am a little rusty though haha. Personally, I like running, reading, being outdoors, spending time with my family and my boyfriend, and watching some favorite shows like Lost and Glee. I'm so excited to meet our team and I truly can't to go to Africa and witness God bless others as he has blessed me.
Hello...I know it says my name is Kathleen but I actually go by my middle name so you can call me Elizabeth:) I am currently a sophomore at Virginia Tech and I'm majoring in hospitality and tourism management. I live in Fairfax, Virginia about 20 miles outside of D.C. A little about myself...well my favorite color is orange, I love 80's music, strawberry milkshakes, and my favorite TV shows are Lost, The Office, and Glee. Also I LOVE Chipotle...if you don't know what that is then you are definitely missing out on the best burritos ever. This is my first overseas mission trip and I am super excited. I am thankful that God has provided me with this opportunity and I know He is continuing to work through me everyday. I can't wait to meet all of you and see what God has in store for us this summer!
Hey guys, My name is Drew Hulsey from Tuscaloosa,Alabama. I graduated from Tuscaloosa Christian School in 08 and now I'm trying to work my way through college. I'm very excited to see what God is going to do, He has done so much already. I'm very thankful for Gods blessings and its going to be so awesome to do his work in other countries.
